Staff Member: Cheryl Marotta
My name is Cheryl Marotta, and I serve St. James Parish as your Director of Administrative Services (DAS). I started here in 2012, after serving almost 15 years at another parish in the same position. Most people associate my job with finances, but that’s a small portion of what this position entails. I oversee the maintenance of all facilities and grounds, as well as most of the support staff and the day-to-day operations of the parish. I work with both the Pastoral and Finance Councils; as well as Stewardship, Buildings & Grounds, Fundraising (raffles, cookbook, festival), and the current Facilities Committee.
My husband John and I have a home in the Town of Waukesha that we share with our cocker spaniel, Kami, and an orange tabby named Putz. This year we’re celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary, a special blessing that we are ever so thankful for. We love animals and have enjoyed boating, fishing, motorcycles, classic cars, gardening, and traveling together.
Despite the ‘bean counter’ stigma, I love a good laugh and keeping things light whenever possible. I have a strong artistic side and enjoy gardening, painting, floral arranging, creative photography, stained glass, all types of design, and jewelry making. I’m a big history buff, particularly Colonial America and the Founding Fathers of our country. They were highly intelligent renaissance people with diverse interests, who overcame tremendous challenges.
Lastly and most importantly, I love God and my Catholic faith! It’s a blessing to work and pray with staff members, parish leaders and volunteers. I’m looking forward to journeying with you through the inevitable growth and change that’s a part of parish life, and trust the Holy Spirit to always guide us well.
