Greetings! My name is Deacon Anton Nickolai, and I am both humbled and elated to be the new Pastoral Coordinator at St. James and St. Theresa parishes. I greatly look forward in the coming weeks and months to meeting and getting to know all of the wonderful people that make up these two, vibrant parish communities, and I’d like to take this opportunity to share a bit about myself. I was ordained a permanent deacon for the Archdiocese in September of 2018, and I’ve loved every second of my diaconal ministry since. My wife, Suzanne, and I are high school sweethearts, and will be celebrating our 15-year wedding anniversary next month. We have been blessed with seven, wonderful children - six daughters, ages 2 to 13, and a two-month-old baby boy. We live in the small town of Lyons outside of Lake Geneva, with our miniature poodle named Nina and a plethora of backyard chickens. Up until this point, I have focused my career in law, having most recently served as the in-house attorney for the Archdiocese of Milwaukee. After much prayer and discernment, I made the decision to leave law behind to seek out a role in parish ministry and administration. I firmly believe in my heart that the Holy Spirit helped to guide me to this opportunity at your parishes, and for that I am extremely grateful. In my free time, I enjoy being outside, reading a good book, and spending time with my family. In closing, I want to take this opportunity to thank everybody at the parishes for giving me such a kind and warm welcome. I can already tell how loving and tight-knit these communities are, and I can’t wait for the opportunities that await me to join all of you in our journey together as followers of Jesus Christ. May God’s blessings be upon you all, and may the peace of Christ be with you always. -Deacon Anton
